Complying with Sarbanes-Oxley is going to cost American companies $6.1bn this year. A survey by AMR Research found that 60% of 223 executives have compliance programmes in place. The biggest expense is that of consultants and external auditing firms at $2.6bn. Technology and services comes in at $1.7bn. Typical costs are $1m for every $1bn of turnover on average. |
